Problem:
- The molars have old silver fillings.
- The edges of the fillings are not sealed. This allows food and bacteria underneath the fillings causing decay.
- More extensive restoration may be necessary if the decay is not treated.
- The old silver fillings make the teeth appear gray in colour.
Solution:
- The old silver fillings, as well as all underlying decay are removed.
- Composite bonding material is placed to fill spaces where tooth structure is missing.
- The new restorations keep the teeth healthy by providing a seal against the seepage of food and bacteria.
- Composite bonding materials blend into the natural shade of the tooth eliminating the gray cast caused by the old fillings. The result is a natural and more youthful smile.
